Inspiration for the design of St Bail’s came from the flame of a rising bonfire.
I think some aspects of St. Basil’s look more like an exotic palace than a cathedral.
I love the spirals on the cathedral that look like brightly coloured lolly pop heads.
St Basil’s looked equally amazing while it was covered in snow with the white sky as a backdrop. It was like this for the majority of our stay which made picture taking pretty difficult when the temperatures were -6C!
If you ever visit St Basil’s, don’t forget to walk around the back for a completely different view.
Lots of people think that St Bail’s is part of the Kremlin but it’s on the outside and in the Red Square.
